Hello Everyone!
Today I finally got the courage to weigh in on the Mac Vs PC discussion.
Personally, I love Mac OS X, but I still use Windows and Linux. Some people may wonder why when there's ways to do anything on any operating system (like Wine to run windows apps under Linux.) Well, it comes down to every system is made for a specific purpose. I would say mac is for work and multimedia, Linux is for software development and servers and windows can do nearly anything, just not very well.
Now, that's not to say that all those people that are like "Winbl0ze teh sucks b/c it crashes and shizit" are right. I've seen a lot of those type of peoples' computer's, and usually 98% of their software is pirated, they have 256Mb of value ram with a 64Mb shared graphics card, and to top it all off its a dell system. Sorry, not going to work that way. I've only had windows crash a few times on me, and they were because of things that were my fault, not because windows is an unstable operating system.
The reason Macs are so stable is that they come configured, and your pretty much sure that if you are going to shell out all that money you get the amount of memory and such that you need before hand, so that you don't load you system up with cheap components. Then, there is the bullet proof operating system. Unless you know what you are doing, it is very hard to destroy any important files on mac. I've only been able to blow up a Mac once, and that was by replacing the 10.4.8 version of BezelServices with the 10.4.5 ones by accident, and that was fixed with Targeted Disc Mode and another Mac in less than ten minuets. See macs promote sharing.
Now, alot of mac users say macs aren't for "n00bz" because professionals use them for Final Cut, Photoshop, Maya etc so they must be really hard to use. Sorry to burst your bubble fellow mac freaks, but be a pro doesn't mean you actually know how to use your computer. I think that pros use macs because they are dependable, and easy to fix if a problem arises. Then there's XGrid to consider in that mix but that's another post.
Anyway, the point is, stop this stupid Mac vs PC, we all know macs are better but we can't let the PC users know that XD. Seriously though, you use what you need, I write software, do media editing and type a lot of emails and letters, so I use a mac for that, because I know it will work when I press the power button. For gaming and some 3D graphic design work, I use a PC, because I can easily (to me) swap parts around and change settings to get the performance I need. If you have nothing better to do with you life and you have to argue about which is better, please update your arguments first, because last time I checked G4 Powerbooks don't come with OS8
Just think about this stuff...
